Coin Master has hundreds of cards spread across dozens of sets, each tied to a specific village. This guide explains how the card system works, what the different rarities mean, and how to use that knowledge to complete sets more efficiently.
How the Card System Works
Cards in Coin Master are organised into sets. Each set contains 9 cards and is associated with a specific village theme. To earn rewards, you must complete entire sets — having 8 out of 9 cards gives you nothing until you collect the final one.
Cards are collected primarily by opening chests, which you buy with coins. Each village has its own card pool — the chests you buy only give cards for your current village. Once you advance to the next village, previous cards can only be obtained through trading.
Card Rarities Explained
1-Star (Common)
The most frequently dropped cards. You'll accumulate many duplicates of these. They appear in all chest types from wooden upward.
2-Star (Common+)
Still common but dropped slightly less frequently. Available in golden and magical chests.
3-Star (Uncommon)
Appear regularly in golden and magical chests. Completing sets that include 3-star cards gives a larger spin reward than lower-tier sets.
4-Star (Rare)
Less frequent drops, mainly from magical chests. You may need to open many chests to get a single 4-star card you need.
5-Star (Epic/Rare)
The rarest regular cards. Only dropped from magical chests and at low rates. These are usually the bottleneck for completing high-tier sets.
Gold Cards
A separate category above normal rarity. Gold cards are visually distinct (shiny gold border), only drop from magical chests, and can only be traded during special Gold Card Trade Events. Every card set contains at least one gold card. See our Gold Cards guide for the full breakdown.
Set Completion Rewards
Completing a card set gives a spin reward that scales with the rarity of the set:
| Set Type | Approximate Spin Reward |
|---|---|
| Common set (1–2 star cards) | 25–75 spins |
| Uncommon set (3-star cards) | 100–200 spins |
| Rare set (4-star cards) | 200–500 spins |
| Epic/Gold set (5-star + gold cards) | 500–2000+ spins |
Exact values vary by village and Moon Active adjusts rewards periodically.
How Many Card Sets Are There?
Coin Master adds new villages and card sets with every major update. As of 2026, the game features well over 400 villages, each with its own themed card set. This means the card collection extends well beyond what any single player can realistically complete — the focus should be on completing sets village-by-village as you progress.
Strategy for Collecting Cards Efficiently
- Don't advance villages until the current village's set is complete or near-complete
- Buy magical chests during Card Boom events for the best card-per-coin ratio
- Trade duplicates in community groups for cards you're missing
- Track what you have — the in-game album shows your progress; some players use spreadsheets for active trading
- Stockpile gold cards before Gold Card Trade Events
Frequently Asked Questions
Are there cards that are no longer obtainable?
Some cards from very old, retired village themes are technically limited. However, they can still appear in trades. Moon Active occasionally re-runs older content as well.
Do cards carry over when I complete a village?
Yes — your card album is permanent. Completed sets and collected cards are never lost when you advance to a new village.
Can I see which cards other players have?
Not directly in-game. In trading groups, players share their Have/Need lists manually. Some community spreadsheets and apps track this for large groups.
What's the fastest village to complete cards in?
Early villages have smaller, simpler card sets with mostly common cards. They're easier and cheaper to complete. Later villages have more gold and epic cards that require significant investment.
