Gold cards are the most coveted items in Coin Master's card collection system. They're rarer than any regular card, harder to trade, and the bottleneck for completing the highest-reward sets. Here's everything you need to know about getting and trading them.
What Are Gold Cards?
Gold cards are a special tier of card that appears in every village's card set. They're visually distinct — displayed with a gold border and shine effect in your album. Every complete set contains at least one gold card, and some sets have two or three.
Completing a set that includes gold cards awards significantly more spins than completing a standard set — often in the hundreds or even thousands for high-tier sets.
How to Get Gold Cards
Magical Chests (Only Source)
Gold cards can only drop from magical chests. Wooden and golden chests never contain gold cards, regardless of how many you open. This makes magical chests the required investment for any gold card hunting.
Even with magical chests, gold card drop rates are low. Opening 100 magical chests without receiving a specific gold card is not unusual. The odds improve slightly during Card Boom events.
Gold Card Trade Events
The second source is player-to-player trading, but only during Gold Card Trade Events. These are limited-time events announced in-game where the otherwise-locked gold card trade button becomes active. The events typically last 24–48 hours.
During a trade event, you can send gold cards to Facebook friends, and they can send them back. This is the primary way to get gold cards you've never been able to drop from chests.
Events and Milestones (Rare)
Occasionally Moon Active gives out specific gold cards as event prizes or milestone rewards. These are uncommon but do happen — always read the event rewards carefully.
How to Trade Gold Cards
Outside of Gold Card Trade Events, the trade button for gold cards is greyed out. During the event window:
- Open your card album and find a gold card you have duplicates of
- Tap it and the trade option will be available
- Select a Facebook friend to send it to
- Coordinate with them outside the game (Facebook, WhatsApp) to agree on what they'll send in return
Gold Card Trade Event Strategy
Prepare Before the Event
Don't wait for the event to start before thinking about what you need. Keep an active list of which gold cards you're missing and post in trading groups before the event asking who has them. When the event goes live, you can execute trades immediately.
Join Gold Card-Specific Groups
General trading groups get overwhelmed during trade events. Some Facebook groups and Discord servers focus specifically on gold card trades and are better organised for the event rush.
Have Desirable Cards to Offer
Trading is only possible if you have something the other player wants. Consistently opening magical chests builds up a stockpile of gold card duplicates you can offer in trades. Players with a wide selection of duplicate gold cards are in the strongest position during events.
Act Fast — Events Are Time-Limited
When a Gold Card Trade Event is announced in-game, immediately post in your trading groups. The event window is short and popular gold cards are claimed quickly. Hesitating often means missing a trade you could have made.
Why Gold Cards Matter So Much
The spin rewards for completing sets with gold cards are dramatically larger than standard sets. A rare set completion can award 1,000–2,000+ spins — more than you'd typically earn from weeks of daily links. Players who consistently complete gold card sets progress through villages much faster than those who skip them.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often do Gold Card Trade Events happen?
Typically every few weeks to once a month. Moon Active doesn't follow a fixed schedule — events are announced in-game and through official social channels. Staying active in trading communities means you'll always get advance notice.
Can I trade gold cards with strangers?
Only through Facebook friends. You need to add someone as a Facebook friend before they appear as a trade option in-game. In trading groups, players add each other specifically for trade events.
What if I don't have any gold card duplicates to offer?
You can still receive gold card gifts from generous traders, but trades are harder to arrange. Focus on opening magical chests consistently — over time, you'll build up duplicates.
Do gold cards expire?
No. Gold cards in your album are permanent, just like regular cards. There's no rush to trade or complete sets by a deadline — other than the trade event windows for the exchange itself.
